i got a splinter under my nail and its in my skin how do i get it out?

its at the tip of my nail but its under my skin i dont no how to get it out?I got a splinter under my nail and its in my skin how do i get it out?
fill the sink with warm/hot water with some nice body or hand soap this is just to try to get the skin to relax take a nail clipper and cut the nail (if its long if its short skip it) then take twezzers and put softly and try to really really softly jiggle it then when you get it out take a disinfectant like polsysporn or what ever you do to disinfect it [before you disinfect soak again]I got a splinter under my nail and its in my skin how do i get it out?
i hate when that happens! Get some tweezers and pick it out that's the easiest way! sorry feel better!
if there is a little piece of it sticking out from your skin, you may be abe to pull on it with some tweasers. if it is all the way in, you will probably have to wait until it pushes itself out.
If you could get some duck tape in between your nail and skin it should pull it out,

Is it ';cheap'; to apply nail guides all around your nails to prevent polish from getting on your skin?

uhm, I don't understand your question but you can put Vaseline around your nail and then nail polish won't go over.

When Im painting my nails, how do I prevent the Nail polish from stiking on my skin?

practice, it doesnt really matter, when it drys, and you take a shower, or wash your hands in warm water, it comes right off of your skinWhen Im painting my nails, how do I prevent the Nail polish from stiking on my skin?
Get some pointed Qtips at the drugstore and wipe it off when it is still wet. When Im painting my nails, how do I prevent the Nail polish from stiking on my skin?
Well. It's all in practice. Just like drawing your eyebrow. Try and you will get it.

Since I'm 13 is it ok to take hair skin and nail vitamins?

My hair is poofy and curly the problem is it is too short alot of people told me if it was longer it wouldnt be like this. Also my nails are always breaking and ripping . IS IT AIGHT TO TAKE HAIR,SKIN AND NAIL VITAMINS FOR A 13 YEAR OLD?Since I'm 13 is it ok to take hair skin and nail vitamins?
The problem is more likely your diet. You should be able to get all your nutrients from your food.

If you aren't, a plain old daily vitamin is all you need. The hair, skin, and nail vitamin sometimes sold in stores is just a hyped up version of what you can get with a daily vitamin, and is usually more expensive, too!

Don't expect a vitamin to 'cure' your hairtype. That's genetics. You can ease its frizziness by taking care not to use hot,hot blowdryers, straightners, or curling irons on it. Also, use a good quality shampoo without 'cones.' These are ingredients ending in -cone that coat your hair. The coating isn't easily washed off, and can be come discolored, brittle, and break off with your hair. Use a good quality conditioner, too, and I always recommend hair oil regardless of ethnicity. It is the BEST protectant. Don't over do it, though, or your hair will just look limp and greasy.Since I'm 13 is it ok to take hair skin and nail vitamins?
no idea
it probably wouldn't hurt you but it may not help... they're supplements not to be replaced by food/diet... go over what you eat and see if you're missing nutrients ie: dairy and folic acid - (like spinach) in your diet - if you get more fruits and veggies in your system that will help - also if you're in a cooler climate - this time of year always wreaks havoc on your hair and nails... lastly if you're only 13yrs. old it's probably homornal and will 'even' out as you get a bit older.
Just take a regular multi-vitamin. The hair skin nails vitamins cost more and don't have ALL the vitamins of a multi.
Kay Kay, at first glance it would seem that any vitamin is good for you...they are vitamins after all. BUT vitamins are taken internally and they go to our systems. And anything we put in, I'd be really careful. Why don't you try other stuff that are to be applied topically? Read the directions carefully. Play it safe, girl.
it id not goof for you to take hair vitamins a that age taking multiple vitamins is beter

    They say pre-natal vitamins help

What color nail polish would look good on medium/tan skin?

Don't wear pastel colors if you have medium skin, it stands out against your skin. Maybe you should try a light brown polish or colors slightly lighter or darker than you skin color. Bright colors and darker colors look great too. I have medium skin color and I love using this red nail polish color called Salsa because it looks great against my skin... Hope this helps :)What color nail polish would look good on medium/tan skin?
bright pink. very summery and cute! What color nail polish would look good on medium/tan skin?
Red, Bright hot pink, or a french manicure
I would say some dark red colors, nothing bright or summery. More autumn colors would look better.
I wear a copper/gold color and I love it with my tan.

But another option is a french manicure because the white contrasts well w/your tan. (I just don't have the patience to do it myself)
    Pinks, french manicure
Oranges and Really rich Colors. I have skin like that too and my favorite is Lusious Blush Or Berry Pink. They Look great with our skin tones.
    dark pinks or purple
bright colors or dark and bold.

    reds, black, dark purple...
    Light Pink
    dark red and clear sparkles
Medium/tan skin will look good with a bright red or pink shade!Hope I helped!
I must say th red is really a great color for people with tanned skin. It gives a very sexy look too!
a tangerine or orange shade is usually used to complement tan skin :]]
Bold is In right now, I would suggest colors like lime green , hot pink or even baby blue , thats funky!

How do you kick a bad habit of cracking fingers, nail biting, or skin chewing (Please, anything will help)?

Ok, my nails are SUPER short and messed up from nail biting, skin is frayed from biting it off (odd habit, dont ask), and cracking my fingers....theyre stiff as a board, please help, i don't know how to kick these habits and they're getting worse and worse, i want to cup my hands all the time so people can't see them. Please help. =)How do you kick a bad habit of cracking fingers, nail biting, or skin chewing (Please, anything will help)?
    Hi Vette,

I love Cindy's suggestion of rewarding yourself for not biting and chewing etc. Problem is that these are outward responses to internal stimuli. If you focus on quitting the habit, another one will form in response to the stimuli, maybe a worse one like a shoulder tick or a neck twitch or an eye flinch. Then you will have beautiful nails and skin but will look like a shock therapy experiment. The answer is to monitor when you do these things and what is going on mentally at the time. Reason through the stimuli and the habit will stop on it's own. You may want to try something like a peppermint oil on your hands as this will get your attention(yet not be offensive) and help you to be aware of when you are biting and chewing. Good luck! How do you kick a bad habit of cracking fingers, nail biting, or skin chewing (Please, anything will help)?
Nail biting - Thumb Stop which is available at the drug store or cayanne pepper. Put it on your nails to remind you not to bite.

Cracking your fingers - this will only get worse if you continue. I suggest you talk to your doctor.

Skin chewing - see nail biting.

Reward yourself for each day you stay away from the habit.

    try this:

    1. Apply nail polish remover (acetone)

    2. Blot

    3. Mix one teaspoon of a mild pH balanced detergent (a mild non alkaline non bleaching detergent) with a cup of lukewarm water

    4. Blot

    5. Sponge with clean water

    6. Blot
Take a warm bath and let the water just soften it up, eventually it should start to flake off.
    makeup remover

    astringent

    paint thinner

those might work, when i had something like that i used those.

I like dark nail varnish, but what is best for pale skin tone?

Something on trend and smart enough to look good when I am dressed up in my work suit.

I like dark nail varnish, but what is best for pale skin tone?
All colours look good on pale skin. I say go red.

If your workplace is conservative/formal, try a glossy beige(it'll go with practically every colour of outfit that you wear) or pale pink. These are the two colours I always have in my dresser. You could also maybe just try a french mani, or buy the Body shop buffer.I like dark nail varnish, but what is best for pale skin tone?
I also like dark nail varnish, but i have tried black and I personal don't think it suits my pale skin tone, but I tried Barry M's Navy and Dark Purple and they are really nice, especially the navy, in my opinion.

I also think red looks really nice too!

Just push it back with a uh cuticle stik!
that's your finger. i'm afraid you can't get rid of that.

unless you're talking about cuticles, in which case, you just need to push them back. do NOT cut them.

because they sell good vitamins a good price. www.puritan.comWhat's a cheap supplement to take for hair/nails/skin?
There is one pill that is good for your hair, nails, and skin. It's a collagen pill or a pill that build collagen in the body. It's called BioSil and there is only one on the market so you can't get confused with any other vitamin.

It's a skin vitamin, but it makes your hair and nails grow like crazy -- the only problem is I have to spend more money on getting my hair and my nails done, because they grow faster.

I read about it in a study that was done in Belguim where they gave BioSil to older women and found that these older women experienced a 55% increase in skin thickiness and elasticity. And a reduction in brittle nails and hair.

I haven't seen much difference in my skin -- have pretty nice skin to begin with. But I did see a difference in my nails and hair in just a few weeks-- like I said before they grow like crazy.
try your local vitamin store or GNC. they will have those available.

My son hit his toe and bruised the skin beneath the nail.?

It has been six weeks and has not healed. He's 1 year old. Should I take him in to the doctor, or continue to let it heal on its own?My son hit his toe and bruised the skin beneath the nail.?
ouch.. sounds painfull.. i'd definately take him to the doc. it cant hurt!!! or even just call them and ask if you should bring him in... six weeks seems like a long time.. i know our bruisings go away alot faster??My son hit his toe and bruised the skin beneath the nail.?
The pediatrician is laughing all the way to the bank when people take their kids to the doc for bruises, coughs, vomiting, etc. This is a common childhood and adult injury. Does it look like the bruised area is growing out with the tonail. Does it look bright red with pus or pain. More than likely, the pain is gone now, what you see is the old blood that will eventually grow out along with the nail. I would just keep it trimmed and keep an eye on it. If you see disturbing changes have the doctor look at it, but since it is so old I doubt he can do anything about it. The only reason they make a hole in the nail is because pressure and pain are caused by it bleeding under the nail, your son is beyond that now. If the toe is not deformed or painful, it probably is not broken either, and that other lady is right, all they will do is buddy tape it anyway, at one year old, even with a fx, it would be about healed by now, babies heal fast. Please don't worry, and continue to let it heal.
Yes you should have it looked at by his pediatrician.

It may be blood trapped under his nail bed that may need to be released by piercing the nail bed above the discolored area.

It may also be broken and the displaced bones are preventing appropriate healing. If it is a fracture they will just tape the toe to another toe (called buddy taping) to stabilize it so it can heal.
    Mother of 4 children.

You have not been to the Dr. yet to see if his toe is broke or not? He is a baby still, even if not have him checked out .Better safe than sorry. It may just be briused where it needs time to grow out, or there may be loss of the nail. Ethier way, get him to the Pedi.Dr. Best Of Luck! :)
watch for swelling and just keep a eye on it if you think you should go then go you decide when the time comes.

I dropped 2 big food cutting blocks on my toe once boy oh boy it hurt all the doc did was stuck my toe nail with ahot needle to drain the blood then sent me home.
Well, I'm not too sure myself... six weeks is pretty long, I guess. You might want to just go to a doctor's in case and for some advice... If it's not too serious, the bruise should come up with the growing nail... at least that's what happened to me.
if its been six weeks to the injury then all you are seeing under the nail is the dried out blood that is still stuck in the dermis if he is experiencing no pain and discomfort let it be it'll grow out

    hope this helps
It will heal but you run the risk of a disfigured toenail if a doctor doesn't look at it. They have a hot poker that pierces the nail and drain the blood that has built up beneath it
ive bruised under my nail before, it usually moves along in the direction the nail grows until its gone. If its not moving id look into it more, if it is, then it's probably nothing.
ouch! that was kinda hurt and painful. possibly, it can heal by itself but first, take him to the doctor to see if there is anything can do about it but don't let him touch the broken skin of the nail.
you can let it heal on its own, it will take a little time to grow out, if it's hurting him u can take him to the doctor and they will pierce the nail to let the blood out
Let it heal. He's 1. Tough as coffin nails. He'll be fine. Those types of injuries take a long time to heal. My thumb is still healing from a framing hammer collision which happened 9 weeks ago.
It won't heal. The toenail has to grow out. The dark spot is blood where he ruptured a blood vessel when he hit his toe. It will grow out with the toenail and you'll trim it off then.
I Would Suggest Medial Attention. He May Have Damaged It Seriously But There Is Really Nothing They Can Do For A Toe It Could Be Broken So Just Check With A Doctor To Make Sure!
when u bruise the skin under nails the blood stains the inside of the nail so u have to wait till the nail grows out......so the bloody looking after soo long then maybe ask the doctor
No it will heal eventually but if you feel its a worry take him to the doctor
you should take him to a doctor. that happened to my little sister and she ened up getting a infection.
Take him to the doctor. That happened to my fingernail and it got worse.
yes because he is only 1 and it could get infected if it has not heald by now
take him to the doctor... NOW!!!!

Cause he might get an infection.
6 weeks old? Uhhh doctor, dur!

Can i cut off my small skin tag from under my armpit with nail clippers safetly?

Ouch, If you even think about it you had better use iodine and make sure the clippers are super sharp and heavily disinfected. Can i cut off my small skin tag from under my armpit with nail clippers safetly?
I wouldnt do it yourself. Id have a friend or relative help. I went to the doctor to get one removed on my neck. It didnt hurt much. Like a pinch. But they used steryle scissors. If i were you id have some rubbing alcohol on hand if you dont sterilyze the scissors/nail clippersCan i cut off my small skin tag from under my armpit with nail clippers safetly?
I wouldn't. To be on the safe side, I would go to a dematologist or your internist. You could possibly run into infection from the nail clippers. A good motto is when in doubt, don't. And you're obviously in doubt or you wouldn't have asked. Stay safe.
I'd use the one for toenails that have a flat clipping blade, not the ones for fingers that are curved. This may prevent cutting your actual skin.

I'd say it's safe, just give it a good wash with soap when you are done just in case.
    no it is not safe

it will hurt and could come back

if you get it taken off at the doctors, they will numb it, cut it off and apply something that kills whatever causes it so it doesnt come back
Absolutely not! Skin tags can be attached to large blood vessels which can cause you to bleed alot and when they grow back they can grow larger due to scar tissue. Go have it removed by a doctor.
Yes but it might hurt, you can also tie a string around it tightly and in two days or so it will fall off on its own and it wont hurt!
I have done that before. Just rinse the clippers in alcohol before you do the clipping and put some Neosporin on it afterwards.
I've had them and my doctor said all he would is slice them off with a razor. and that there was no reason that i couldn't do it myself as long as I kept it clean
you can BUT disinfect the nail clippers big time or you will catch an infection.
Better to tie it off with dental floss and let it fall off

It might bleed too much if you clip it

I helped my sister take of over 100 this way

    Good Luck
No. It can cause infection, irritation, or worse. See your family doctor - they can take care of that for you.
Skin tags will bleed a lot if you take them off yourself. I would wait and have your physician remove it.
idk. Do some research on the topic by Googling it. Sounds like a disturbing situation though. :[
my dad had one of those. just go to the doctors and they will freeze it off for you, with no pain. good luck :]
    yes, you can
    that doesn't sound safe

What do you do when you have nail polish on your skin?

like when you paint your nails and it accidentally drips on your skin, how do you remove that extra nail polish without messing up your nails? What do you do when you have nail polish on your skin?
i would say have someone else wipe it off for you with nail polish remover or just use soap and water and scrub it off when your nails are dry:]What do you do when you have nail polish on your skin?
I dip a Q-Tip in nail polish remover and run it around my nail. It works, just be careful in the cuticle area or you could wipe off the polish on your nails.
Just wait until your nails are dry, then put some nail polish remover on a cotton swab and wipe it off. Then, just wash with soap and water where you used the remover.
I always use a cotton swab dipped in nail polish remover and gently rub the polish off my skin. It works and your nails stay perfect. Hope I helped.
i normally put a q-tip in nail polish remover and i very carefully wipe around the nail.
dont do anything while your nails are wet! once your nails have dried take a q-tip and dip it in nail polish remover anc carefully rub it where the nail polish is

I have fair skin & find that some nail colors make my fingers look short & stubby. Which colors will suit me?

What colors make the fingers look long? Short or long nails?I have fair skin %26amp; find that some nail colors make my fingers look short %26amp; stubby. Which colors will suit me?
french manicure will look gud.but i think what ever the colour u choose, you could give more attention to shaping and cutting your nails which is the real part of it.if u have stubby fingers and if u cut it straight,it will definitely look bad.cut and shape ur nails pointed and round.use shiny colours always, darker colours shine less, something like mauve, coral pink, metallic brown will look gud.bright colours will not look gud if u want to keep ur fingers narrow n long.I have fair skin %26amp; find that some nail colors make my fingers look short %26amp; stubby. Which colors will suit me?
I'm fair skin too and i personally like 2 wear light pastel colours preferably pink!
i have short fingers and i always do a dark brown or a dark reds and my skin is also lite and i relly dont care what people say about my hands
Since you are fair i think u should wear dark nail colours so that your nails stand out. I am fair and when i do dark colours it really suits me. French tip will look nice but you have to do it nice. I prefer to do dark colours, cause i am fair too. It all depends on what colours you like to wear.
French manicure will be perfect. If done correctly, it will elongate your fingers..
Maybelline Iced MAuve is a soft pink that looks very pretty. Try delicate colors. I like soft pink-browns and sheer colors. A French manicure will also look pretty. Too dark colors won't look good on you. Keep the colors shiny, (not frosty, but shiny) and delicate and you will look beautiful.
i too am fair skinned but normaly i used color like a darkish purplish color with glitter insided it and it makes my nails long. Usually using a plain color like red, yellow, and green for example make my fingers look short especially when my nails aren't long.
french manicure is good. it goes with everyskin color and with every outfit. it can look casual or glamerous. plus the guys like it!

If I am taking skin, hair, and nail vitamins, how fast should my hair grow per month?

I have been taking silica supplements for skin/nail/hair for about 2 - 3 months. It affects the strength of nails/hair more than growth rate. If your hair is less likely to break, it will appear to grow faster. Of course the supplements only affect new hair growth, not the condition of older hair. I do notice my nails are stronger as I type all day and they used to break or tear more than they do now. On average hair grows about 1/2 inch a month. Protein/iron is important for hair condition too, so keep that in mind if you're a vegetarian or dieting. You need a balance in your diet.If I am taking skin, hair, and nail vitamins, how fast should my hair grow per month?
It really depends on a variety of factors, among them: genetics, diet, stress levels, exercise, and shampoo.

Salesman at vitamin stores will tell you that hair skin and nails products do in fact work. They are trying to sell a product. Believe me, I have experimented with MSM, hair skin and nails, biotin, and a combination of all three. None of them seemed to have a major impact on my hair growth. They only gave me acne.

Scalp massage is widely known hair growth technique. You might try this out yourself.

The best thing you can do is get plenty of sleep, DRINK water, keep your stress levels down, and have plenty of vitamins. Good luck.

  • Best nail polish colors for pale skin?

I have very pale skin with cool undertones. What nail polishes look best? Besides boring neutrals and pastels, etc. Are there any funky colors I can pull off with pale skin?Best nail polish colors for pale skin?
I really think you can pull off any nail color with fair skin. Pale skin can kind of act as a canvas and the colors can really pop. Try hot pink, turquoise, bright yellow, vibrant coral and maybe even orange. A classic bright red nail would also really pop. :)

Here's a tip. Have you heard of OPI nail polish? It's my absolute FAVORITE brand. Go onto their website (OPI.com) and go to the tab that says ';try on this color.'; It shows a hand and you can adjust it to match your particular skin tone. Then you can click on colors and virtually ';try on'; the entire OPI color catalogue to see what shades you think look good on your skin color.

How do you keep the nail glue off your skin?

When I put my fake nails the glue seems to go on my skin. If I put to little it won't stick. And if I put a dab too much the glue goes on my skin and I don't know what to do. Should I use a stronger glue? What is a good brand? How do you keep the nail glue off your skin?
Hi... As I've preached to so many others, you are attempting to wear FALSE nails and NOT FAKE NAILS... There is a difference... Do acquaintances of yours wear FAKE teeth or false teeth..? And if someone is in a place where they should be, are they there under Fake pretenses or FALSE pretenses..? One has a very harsh connotation to it, and versus a softer ';tone'; to the other.. Now to your inquiry..

I, being a c/d - t/v are very much into a nails on - nails off situation often.

On the back side of each false nail, there's a small indentation at the bottom (at least the ones I wear have) this is where you put the nail glue into, and not in huge quantities - then you apply a small dab ';mid nail...

THEN you let these sit for a minute or so... Next you apply the false nail to your own nail, and press into place and HOLD!!!!! Hold each and every nail you do for about a minute or even a bit more.. A job well done, should not be rushed...!!! If they're not sticking, you are rushing... And if you are getting glue on your skin, that indicates again, rushing, and using far too much....

Basically false nail glue comes in one strength ONLY!!!! But the end result comes about you're learning, and not rushing, and hopefully you are not buying ';cheap'; nails and cheap glue... Stay away from ';off shore'; products... You're throwing your money away if you buy cheap... A decent set of naiuls will run you probably around 10.00 and nail glue seperately around 5.00 a small tube..

    Patience is a prerequisite .....

Ask your pharmacist or doctor. I have no idea whether they are good to take together or not. Most of us around here aren't doctors and just because someone on the internet claims to be doesn't mean they are telling the truth. It would be best to just call a pharmacist or doctor.

How do I get nail polish off my 1 year old daughers skin?

If you don't have the nail polish remover, use a rubbing alcohol in a cotton ball or wash cloth of sorts that you can saturate and place on her skin for a few seconds and then lightly wipe across the nail polish to loosen and dissolve. It will take a few minutes to do, just be patient. If you have none of these things, you can also use a cologne/perfume that you have in the house. It also contains alcohol even though it makes us smell nice. Again, if you don't have these, just place a wet, warm cloth on the skin and it will start to peel off with the wetness. You can use a band-aid also with an ointment also to keep it moist and take off later. Good Luck!!!:%26gt;)How do I get nail polish off my 1 year old daughers skin?

    I dunno...Nail Polish remover? =D
    nail polish remover
make her take a shower but before that like try to clean it off with a polish remover and try to scrub it off if not then let it come off by itself
three little words...nail polish remover (use cotton balls and q-tips)...afterwards, wash thoroughly with soap and water and apply baby lotion or some baby oil to moisturize and soothe the skin
nail polish remover just dab at bit on it best works with a cotton ball. paper towel or something works too tho. jsut scrub it abit. If ur nervous dont worry its toatally safe. U can use soap and water but it would take alot more time and effort and wont work as well or as fast..Make sure to wash with soap and water after useing nail polish remover tho
Nail polish remover, then where the nail polish is put soap and water on it.(In case she rubbed her eye or anything else it wouldn't burn.) Hope this helps!

My dog's nail is cracked from almost the tip to were it almost reaches the skin. Does he need Vet?

It isn't bleeding and he isn't in any noticeable pain. Will the nail grow out eventually? Is there anything I can do to help it heal faster? My dog's nail is cracked from almost the tip to were it almost reaches the skin. Does he need Vet?
Super glue should work. Time will tell if it poses a problem or not.My dog's nail is cracked from almost the tip to were it almost reaches the skin. Does he need Vet?
My dog had the same problem, I used super glue to mend the crack and it grew out just fine.
Super glue is perfect for this (preferable a quick dry kind, or you dog may end up with some interesting things stuck to his foot).

Nails crack... unless it's painful and bleeding (which you already said it's not) a vet visit isn't necessary. Just clean it really well with anti-bacterial soap before you seal it up, and watch it over the next week or so, just to be sure.
Of course he needs a vet. If it's cracked under the skin the vet will need to remove the nail so it doesn't get infected. Even if it's not he will still need his nail cleaned up and possibly need antibiotics to prevent infection.
I'd keep an eye on it, if it doesn't seem to be bothering the dog, and make sure it isn't getting worse or infected. If it does, then it's time to see a vet. It will probably be okay. If you can, cut the nail a bit shorter so there's less stress on it from walking.
See a vet or vet tech BEFORE using something like super glue. Super glue is poisonous and should never be used anywhere near any sort of open wound. If the nail is cracked down near the vein the vet will have a safe compound that can be used.

I stepped on a nail yesterday and just the pointy tip went into the thick skin on the bottom of foot.?

I stepped on a nail yesterday and just the pointy tip went into the thick skin on the bottom of foot. It bled a little but quit. I had my tetanus booster about 7 months ago. Am I ok on not needing another booster? I got everything out of the hole, Little sore but I can still walk on it no problems.I stepped on a nail yesterday and just the pointy tip went into the thick skin on the bottom of foot.?
Looks like the Mayo Clinic is saying that tetanus boosters should be every 10 yrs. See the source below

If you are sure you had one 7mns ago you should be OK, but if it gets infected you should still go see a doctor. It could get infected and not be tetanus.

if you're asking for a woman or you are a woman....i would go with bright red or bright pink nail polish...no nylons and red or pink shoes to math the polish with the leopard skin dress
most people dont wear nylons any more but any color shoes would great with it!!!
You're not seriously a guy thinking of wearing a dress, nail polish, and nylons, are you?

A black/brown sliver under my nail is skin cancer?

I read a magazine that said if theres any strip of black or brown under your nail, it could be a sign of skin cancer. Well, my middle finger has like the TINIEST little bit of brown sliver, like it looks like the tiniest wooden splinter ever.. but I'm freaking out.. do you think its something to worry about?? ThanksA black/brown sliver under my nail is skin cancer?
i think the only way to put your mind at rest is to see a doctor or get someone to look at it, then at least if it is anything (and chances are it wont be hopefully) you can get it sorted out early.

I wouldn't worry about it, it really sounds like you might have a splinter, bruise, mark or something like that but if you are then like i said put your mind at rest and get it checked out, Take into account other aspects of skin cancer though, and see how you feel.

    Hope this helps!

Find someone who smokes cigarettes and collect their ashes. Rub a little water with the ashes and rub on your skin, the hair dye will come out.HOw do I get hair dye off skin without rubbing alcohol or nail polish remover?
You can try OXY daily cleansing pads.HOw do I get hair dye off skin without rubbing alcohol or nail polish remover?
sea breeze-skin astringent at walmart or another store
Hair dye can be removed from skin by using shampoo. After all it is the shampoo and the washing of your hair that removes the color.
You can try babyoil, soap and water usually does it for me, i just use Dawn brand or anything that specifically says ';Tough on grease'; lol i know that sounds weird but trust me i dye my hair all the time, many different colors, and another thing you could try vaseline. And here;s a hint of advise, if ure a messy person like me, use vaseline around your hair line b4 you dye your hair, just... dont get it IN your hair... and wear either a long sleeved shirt or something to fully cover your arms!!! Good Luck!!

the ways to remove it from the skin are a few: use hot oil treatments that are for the hair, hair spray, cigarette ash, cottoballs with milk on them , or wd-40
rub the spot with a napkin and on it some ashes from a cigarette. it works.

I stepped on a rusted nail but it didn't went through my skin, can I still get Tetanus?

I was entering the background, bringing my clothes to the washer barefooted. I didn't realize there was a rusted nail on the ground and accidentally stepped on the top (circle) of the nail but lucky it didn't went through my skin. Than I just went to the bathroom to wash the mark on my foot. There was a slight small mark of the nail but later it disappear.I stepped on a rusted nail but it didn't went through my skin, can I still get Tetanus?
No you are OK- wear shoes or slippers would be wise. It only applies to deep cut or wounds.I stepped on a rusted nail but it didn't went through my skin, can I still get Tetanus?
    Yes
If you have gotten a tetanus shot then you probably wont. If you havent you should check with your doctor.
Absolutely no chance of tetanus if your skin was not broken. If there was no break in the skin, there is absolutly no way that the tetanus bacteria could get into your body, and therefore cannot cause tetanus. Trust me on this.

Since you are paranoid about getting tetanus, I take it you haven't had a tetanus shot recently. I reccommend getting one because next time you step on a rusty nail you might not be so lucky!
it's a minimal possibility if you haven't had a booster shot in thelast 10 years-

either wayit is a good idea to keep it updated-you could casually scratch a surface that appears to be clean and not notice-but the tetanus germ can still be there
    yes

    YES
If you've had a shot with in the last 10 years you'll be all good, I work in a welding company and get cut all the time and half of the time get cut on rusty things, I get a shot every 5 years,
better to be safe than sorry.

Which nail polish would look good on tan skin?

I want a nail polish that would get my skin to look lighter. my skin is light tan. like soft caramel. not caramel itself. like reeeeaaallly light coffee but still considered tan. get it. it's just not dark, not tan, but not white. I just wanna make it seem lighter :) help me out. what nail color would be best?Which nail polish would look good on tan skin?
Colors to try: gold, hot pink, dark brown, plum, lavendar, light pink. These colors would compliment your skin color and make it seem lighter. Go with Sally Hansen or Revlon nail colors because their colors are awesome and their is such a huge variety of them. Hope I helped!Which nail polish would look good on tan skin?
    Black, purple, blue. :D
if you want to look paler go for a navy blue or black. lighter colors are going to make you look darker than the color so do something darker than your skin to make it look lighter
try darker colors. so your skin seems light under it!
You'll need a dark color, maroon or burgundy colors or raisin color.
i'd say black, as it looks really nice on tanned skin %26amp; is in at the moment :)
if you want to look darker use pale pink pastely colours

if you want to look lighter use much darker colours
pastel colours or peach.. or black? i have no idea but hope this helps lol. And its only nail polish right.. just go to superdrug or wherever and try a few colours on and whichever looks best buy?
I think pink looks ghot, my opinion...a french manicure is good, anything light just no oranges or tans
    Black.

Just like if you have black hair or black clothes.. It will make you look paler.

I loove black on toenails.. It doesnt look to dark or gothic, very stylish in my opinion.
i think a light pink or even jsut light pastel colours

Colors during the spring/summer season should be bright and give you a glowing look. For nail I suggest, bright blue, pink, gold, something light but catchy, and same goes for the eyes. What nail and lip colours are hottest in summer season for wheatish skin?need some expert advice?
in the day a neutral lip color and then use some darker makeup to bring out your eyes. at night a slightly darker colour like dark pink or red to suit you colour undertones and just some eyeliner and mascara.

when wearing you makeup naturally just nude lip stick and light brown eye shadow with a little mascara (if that's not what you meant sorry)

Don't use nail polish! It dries out ur nails and like kills them!

Right beside my finger nail my skin is bulging up and turning a yellowish/greenish.

It hurts and puss is coming out of it.Right beside my finger nail my skin is bulging up and turning a yellowish/greenish.
Clean it with peroxide and neosporin and wrap it.

Call your md you will need a 'script to help heal the infection (puss, green stuff)...

Right beside my finger nail my skin is bulging up and turning a yellowish/greenish.
i use to get these when i was in high school right near where i would hold a pencil. I just popped them and kept pushing below it until the puss stopped coming out and it didn't hurt from the pressure. Then I would soak it, put some neosporin on it and wrap it.
you need to have it lanced go to the clinic and get it done i had this problem as well and then soak it in hot water with salt
Its obviously infected. Soak it in warm saline solution and gently squeeze the pus out. Once you have done that, apply an antibiotic and cover with a bandage. If your nail is growing into your skin, gently lift the nail and place a small piece of cardboard under the nail on your skin. This will keep the nail from growing into your skin and the piece of cardboard will fall out as the nail grows

and put the nail polish remover on it and use it that way
you can take a q-tip and put some remover on it then out it on your skin it works every time for me
Have a friend or relative take a cutip covered in nail polish remover and carefuly clean it for you.

    http://www.tapnet.biz
put potion on your hands BEFORE polishing your nails after the polish has dried wash your hands in cold water the lotion keeps the polish from binding to your skin so when you wash your hands it just comes right off

If it's been more than 5 years, you need a booster if the nail broke the skin. Better to have a sore arm for a few days than to be REALLY sick.

If it's been more than 5 years, you need to get one anyway :-)

oh and those colors with teal/turquoise look awesome!!!!!

Neutral colours look great on everyone, and french manicures are always classy. However, if you want some more bright colours, a nice punch coloured pink would look great, as well as reds (as long as your nails are not too long, red and very long nails could look tacky).

Bronzes and golds are nice too!

Check essie.com and opi.com for colour ideas :)
Nothing brings out a tan more than white or light nail polish. Try pearly white, silver, and other pale shades.

no everything dies in your body when u r deadIf I take hair, skin, and nail vitamins, will my nails and hair continue growing when I'm dead?
Your hair and nails do not continue to grow after death. Your skin shrinks and makes it look that way.If I take hair, skin, and nail vitamins, will my nails and hair continue growing when I'm dead?
well actually it doesn't matter if you take those vitamins because even if you don't your hair and nails WILL continue growing when you're dead. (for a while)
Your nails and hair continue to grow long after death anyway. So this may elongate the process.

Do those hair, skin, & nail pills really work?

Well I take a vitamin E pill and it is for hair, skin, and nails but I honestly don't see a difference. Probably over time they do. It just depends on what your getting and what kind of quality it has. Do those hair, skin, %26amp; nail pills really work?

in a word? yes. are they worth it? no.

basically, all they do is give you a boost of vitamins which you will get from a healthy diet anyway, they have side effects and work no better than just living a healthy lifestyle.

get a good balanced diet and lots of exercise and you'll soon notice the difference.

yeah, i used to take them. they make you feel woozy and feel like vomiting when you dont have to, but it really really grows those nails long--like shop nails--in a month's time
Honestly, all you need to do is take a daily multi-vitamin. It will do the same thing, plus added benefits of other supplements, and its cheaper.
No not at all! my mother tried them once and nothing happened! Plus her friends tried them and nothing happened either! My fried even tried them! They do not work! Do not believe lots of things you hear! So the answer is No they do not work!
o my gosh i was about to ask this question too ??? lol im gonna keep an eye on this onee !! (: so thanks lol

if it could..i would think my nails would not be yellow(from the last nail polish color i used) after i use it.Can nail-polish remover bleach skin?
I've tried bleaching a suntan and nothing removes a suntan. Plus using it on the skin, well it isn't meant for the skin so a person could be alergic or the smell could get to you.

I know nail polish can bleach out a rug though.

we dont want to go to the emergency room, how can we stop the bleeding and what can we use to stop it

'My brother had his finger on the door and my sister closed the door on it and the half of nail and skin came o?
Don't be ridiculous. Collect the tissue and get to the emergency room asap. Put sterile gauze over it and apply pressure. Have him hold it at or above the level of his heart, and rest in on a cold pack while you get him to the ER!My brother had his finger on the door and my sister closed the door on it and the half of nail and skin came o?
My mom got her finger slammed in a doorway, and she didn't want to go to the ER, either. My dad and I forced her to go, and the doctors said she would have lost the tip of her finger if she hadn't of gone. The thing was, it didn't even seem that bad. It was bleeding a lot, but people bleed a lot from simple cuts, too.

Anyways, I think you should go to the ER or at least call them up. You can call the hospital and explain the situation, and they can determine the situation and if it is best to go to the ER or if it can be treated. I would not trust this injury with random people online, no offense.

I'm sorry I can't help the way you wanted, but that's my advice :)
I did that once. I didn't go to the ER, but this case sounds worse than mine. At least call them.

Dog broke nail right at top where it comes out of the skin?

It has not bleed at the break site, but it is a splintered break and is painful. Will a new nail grow or should I have it completely removed???Dog broke nail right at top where it comes out of the skin?
Take the dog to the vet and have it fixed. My dog did this a couple of years ago and they had to put her under and pull it out. A new nail grew back. They also cut down all the other nails really short to where they bled and used clotting powder to stop the bleeding. She was completely under so none of this was painful for her.Dog broke nail right at top where it comes out of the skin?
If the dog will allow you to-attempt to file down the splintered part as much as possible so it doesn't tear more. It will probably start bleed but you can put some Quick stop or Baking Soda Powder to stop the bleeding. If he will let you cut it straight better yet it may bleed but he'll lick it till it stops. My Jack just tore her completely off down to the pad, I'm not sure if that will grow back, but it stopped bothering her in about 3 days. Good luck
Ouch! My dog ripped her nail out at the skin and it did bleed. I took her to the vet and he gave me some antibiotics for her so it wouldn't get infected and some cream to put on it. He also told me to cover it when she was outside so no dirt would get into it. If the nail is hanging there you might want to have the vet look at it to see if it should be removed. They are very painful until they grow back in (in a few months).
Take her to the vet. Animals nails are extremely sensitive and your dog must be in agony. I wouldn't try cutting it off on my own cuz that might make it worse.
May need medical adhesive to seal it from infection -- see a vet.
    ouchh.

    it should grow.

i had one and i tied the string.. but i was a baby about it to.. it look me like an hour to actually do it.. haha.. i just kept tightening it little by little.. eventually, i think it just jumped off because, it was irritatated at my big baby syndrome. it wasnt painful though.
I used a natural product to remove mine in 2 days. It was called dermatend.

    For a really quick fix you can just snip it of but it will definitely come back that way. Plus it's painful and you say you're a baby :)%26gt;

Good luck either way. I know they can consume your thoughts wondering if anybody is looking at it!

Which nail polish suits my skin complexion?

My hands and feet are light brown.Which nail polish suits my skin complexion?
Orange, bright pink, magenta, dark purple, dark brown, peach, bright red. You can wear anything you want, really. You have the perfect skin color for wearing whatever you want. Just don't wear the same color on your hands and feet. If you have orange toes, then wear a complementary color on your hands, like peach or pale pink. If you have red fingernails, then wear pale pink on your toes. Right now I'm wearing bright orange on my toes and pale pink on my hands, and it looks great. Matching your toes to your fingernails is no longer in style. A good neutral polish that will go with any bright or strong color is OPI in Samoan Sand. You can buy it at Ulta, JCPenney, and many salons.Which nail polish suits my skin complexion?
    Red or navy blue.

    Even orange!
A deep purple or rose-red color. Maybe with black tips

    jewel tones look nice also.
Well its kinda hard to tell without a pic. But I thik that dark is just going to make your hands look darker. The best colors for dark skin are floral colors like soft reds and pinks if all else fails you can never go wrong with french tip,
personally, i don't like black nail polish.

  • I have a little bit of green underneath my skin, right next to my nail by my cuticle.?

What is this? I pulled part of my cuticle out from my middle finger nail the other day (habit sometimes), and woke up the next morning with the tip of my middle finger in pain, and swollen on the side of my finger where I pulled the cuticle. ALSO, its got a small spot of green under my skin, where I pulled the cuticle out of! What is it? Did i cause fungus the get under my skin by doing that?? I'm scared! What is it? Any suggestions?I have a little bit of green underneath my skin, right next to my nail by my cuticle.?
It's an infection. You will need to drain the pus and keep the area clean. You might consider going to the doctor to have the pus drained if it gets any worse. However, I have had this happen to me before and drained it myself. I used a sterilized needle and peroxide to promote the drainage. After draining, I applied neosporin and covered it with a bandaid.

Another thing, I've done is to press on the area until the pus started to drain. Keep pushing on it to remove the pus, apply neosporin and cover with a bandaid. It cleared up within a couple of days.I have a little bit of green underneath my skin, right next to my nail by my cuticle.?
    That's probably a nail fungus or something...see a doctor....they are treatable.
If the green area is popable (meaning, does it look like ooze would come out if you poked it?) then pop it. I had the same thing, my finger was throbbing, it was clearly infected (I have the habit of pulling my cuticles too) so I stuck a pin in the 'green' area and squeezed my finger, it came out and I put neosporen on it with a bandaid and it cleared up by itself. If you do this and it continues to get worse then I would go see a doctor. It's treatable.
It is Paper epilepsy, spend some syrup inserted under no thing
Sounds like a fungal infection. You should go see a doctor.

Wash your face with soap and water. Put some calamine lotion on if you have any. Otherwise, wait! Don't use anything else on your face for about a day.

Does anyone know of a really good hair, skin and nail vitamin that I can take?

Ever since I stopped taking my prenatal vitamins my skin has been crappy. Its oily, uneven, large pores and I do get the occassional breakout. I purchased the Neutrogena Microderm kit and I've only used it so far for like 5 days and the texture of my skin is much smoother and my pores are smaller but I guess it will take a little time to even out my skin. I have some hyperpigmentation spots. I have also purchased Peter Thomas Roth acne clearing gel which seems to be working pretty well. It has 10% glycolic acid and 2% beta hydroxy acid but it doesn't irritate my skin. Its sort of expensive...$45 but its made for adult acne. I tried all the Clean and Clear, Clearasil, etc and I believe that stuff is meant for tweens/teens. Anyway, I need a really good vitamin to help improve my skin and hair. I stopped the prenatals because I don't breast feed and they were making me hungry...well the hungry thing could be hormonal...I don't know. Thanks in advance..Does anyone know of a really good hair, skin and nail vitamin that I can take?

How do you get dark red nail polish out of my aeropostal jeans and off my skin?

Just like 20 minutes ago my girl friend got nail polish on me its dark red and it got on my aeropstal jeans and all over my arm and i cant get it out. can someone please help me?How do you get dark red nail polish out of my aeropostal jeans and off my skin?
For your skin try nail polish remover. It'll come off for sure. For the jeans I'd try wetting the stain with same remover, blotting it lightly with a rag, then washing it with some strong detergent. Be careful with the jeans though, it'll be easy to ruin them if you rub too hard. Good luck. How do you get dark red nail polish out of my aeropostal jeans and off my skin?
You'll need nail polish remover to get it off your skin if it is wet. If it is a thin layer and dried, you should be able to peel it off, or use soap and water to wash it off. As for your pants... good luck with that. I once got black nail polish on my jeans and it took a bunch of washes to finally get it out.
Not a big deal..Just wash it off of your arm with soap and warm water while scratching it, it will come off. As for the jeans I don't think it will come out and I realize you stress the fact that their aeropostal jeans, lame.

i doubt its fungus or anything like that,

cause it only happends when i bite my nails.

and how can i get rid of that discusting

skin by friday ?Why does the skin peel under my nail ?
Stop biting your nails! Your saliva makes your skin soggy then when you bite your nails, you are no doubt also scraping at your skin. Why does the skin peel under my nail ?
Put antibiotic ointment (Neosporin, or something of the sort) on the peeling skin, the cover it with a BandAid until it goes away. Also try using lotion instead of antibiotic ointment, though I don't know which will be better for you.

    Good luck!
    because its dead skin

and same thing happens to me.

anyways its sorta of like the skin that keeps the nerves and stuff inside your nail.

Nail polish that tones down the yellowness in my skin?

I am naturally very yellow hued (I had jaundice as a baby, so zip it!) and I often find that nail polish looks awkward against my skin, as it brings out the yellowness. What colours tone down the yellow hue in my skin? Thanks!Nail polish that tones down the yellowness in my skin?

Best nail colors to fit my skin tones?

I have a light tan-ish (sometimes it looks yellow) hue as my skin tone on my hands. My feet, on the other hand, are much paler - kind of like a light yellow white.

Anyways, which colors would be best for my skin tones? :)

By the way, I really hope it's not too bold of a color!Best nail colors to fit my skin tones?
my feet are wide too! haha that doesnt even matter but i have tannish skin too, and i LOVEEE wearing like this neon pink nail polish i have.. i got it from claire's.

infact, any neon color looks good on tan skin.

also, red looks hottttt. so try that too!

stay away from from like nude colors, i hate that %26amp; it makes nails look weird. but yeah, hope that helped :)Best nail colors to fit my skin tones?
I have a dusky complexion. I try earth shades. Well, my cousin who is slightly yellowish, carries earth shades well. She also looks good in off-white and light cream shades. Do not go for pink and purple nail polish. They make you look somberly yellowish. You will understand it if you drape yourself or just your hands with a pink or purple stole/dupatta. If you wish to try a modern look, you may use silver and olive nail polish. They wont make you look ';yellow'; at least.
    light yellow..

ok .. try the red colors .. hot pink , anything will make your skin look less yellow will be amazing.. just keep away from all the brown or chocolate colors.
    red would suit you

What are the best colors of nail polish to go along with fair skin?

What's the best way to remove black hair dye from skin? I tried toothpaste and nail polish remover.?

i tried rubbing alcohol and it worked for meWhat's the best way to remove black hair dye from skin? I tried toothpaste and nail polish remover.?
i diluted bleach with a little bit of water...that did the trick for me. although the smell isn't too nice, lol. good luck =)What's the best way to remove black hair dye from skin? I tried toothpaste and nail polish remover.?
I believe its lemon juice and a loofah that does the trick.
I use Oxy Face Pads (Maximum Strength) to get the black off my skin! Try pouring a little rubbing alcohol in the solution the pads come in also, it helps! The key is to keep a washcloth (that you don't mind staining) with a little rubbing alcohol on it handy while your dying, so you can wipe spots while you dye. The longer its on your skin the harder its gonna be to get it off!

P.S. If you dye black again in the future try applying a good layer of cold cream or baby oil along your hair line (framing your face, ears and down around your neck) to create a barier btwn your skin and the dye, so it doesn't stain as much!
Cigarette ashes. Mix them with a little water to make it pasty. Apply and let it sit for a few minutes, rinse it off! It works. The ammonia in the ashes is what does it, but don't try straight ammonia, you'll burn your skin.
put lemon juice on the area, let it stay 4 a while then scrub it off with face scrub...then apply any oil on the area, and massage. this will ease the skin and more colour will come out.

Is nail polish poisonous if absorbed through the skin?

Just last night I was messing around and I painted on my wrist a heart, good sized.. and used nail polish to paint it (I was painting my toes beforehand).

sucksThe skin by my nail hurts badly?
The cause for pimples are many and not only adolescence as

popularly believed. Chronic constipation is one major cause,

the food we eat plays a very important role. You will have

to cut down the fried food, chocolates, cheese and aerated

drinks. Eat a lot of fresh fruits and green vegetables with

a lot of water. Instead of washing the face with soap, use

orange peel powder. Dry Orange peels in the shade for 4-5

days. Powder finely and store. Wash your face with this 2-3

times a day. It clears the face and feels very refreshing.
