Does taking a hair skin and nail vitamin actually help ?

Has anyone taken a hair skin and nail vitamin and noticed results? Are they worth taking? Are they safe?

What's the DL?Does taking a hair skin and nail vitamin actually help ?
It depends on whether you are vitamin deficient. Most people are not. You need very small amounts of vitamins and minerals and any excess is excreted through urine mostly. Most vitamins simply result in expensive urine. If you are taking a multivitamin, that usually covers everything you need and more. Ultimately you want to do a trial where you don't take the vitamin and rate your hair and nail quality, then take the vitamin for 6 weeks and repeat the ratings and then stop for 6 weeks. That way, if you improve initially and then get worse later you know it is the vitamins. It is rare but possible to take too many vitamins. Some are toxic if taken in mega mega doses. But mostly you are just taking a vitamin that you are already getting from a multvitamin or from food and the excess is flushed.Does taking a hair skin and nail vitamin actually help ?
Generally, no.

The dose of biotin recommended for improving nails and hair is 2500mcg per day.

It takes up to 6 months for your nails to grow out completely, and that must happen before you see results. When you DO see results, it will be dramatic.

My nails are much stronger now than at any time in my life. I haven't even trimmed my hair in 2 1/2 years and have yet to see any split ends.
YES! There's one for women at Trader Joes. Lotsa biotin in it which helps the most!
