Nail biting Skin pulling off how to stop?

I started nail biting whoknows how long ago. So in high school I tired to stop this. I did somewhat successed but instead i turned to biting off my skin around my nails. I seem to ALWAYS have to have my fingers in my mouth. If try to take them out I have to replace them with something else. The only time I dont have my fingers in my mouth is when I am typing. If i stop to think I go back to biting off my skin. And if I have my hands down behine my back I tend to use my nails to pull off my skin. I dont notice when I do this. I just notice when it starts to bleeds. Putting something that tastes nasty on my fingers doesnt help coz I dont need to bite them to pull off my skin. Any ideas to help me stop?Nail biting Skin pulling off how to stop?
Nail biting is symptom of anxiety.

As a reformed nail biter I can tell you that it sounds like you have a severe case. You may even have something akin to Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.

Please talk to your doctor about it.Nail biting Skin pulling off how to stop?
I can help with nailbiting or skin biting. Get yourself a thin, clear mouthpiece at nailbitestopper.com and insert when you get the urge to bite something--anything, and you will find that you can't. nailbiting.biz

Try putting tabasco sauce on your fingers. You will quickly break yourself of the habit. Good Luck!
I do the same thing except I don't have long nails, so I can't pull the skin off. One of the most famous current basketball players in the NBA does the same thing. Lebron James. He is always chewing away at his fingers and it looks like the skin too. We're in good company at least.

Anyway, how about cutting your nails back so that you can't pull the skin off? That,. along with that nasty tasting stuff, may help. Finally, going to therapy may help in the sense that they may teach you techniques to help recognize when you are subconciously chewing and make yourself stop. I am considering the therapy option myself.

Good luck!
I have that same problem, i think the best way to stop it is by putting some sort of pepper or something on your fingers so that the next time you try biting your skin you will taste the pepper and gradually you will learn not to have this habit, i have never been bothered to although i should. :)
